Steve is Chief Executive Officer of REC (Renewable Energy Corporation), a global leading solar energy company, headquartered in Singapore. Through integrated manufacturing from silicon to wafers, cells, and high-quality solar panels, REC provides the world with a reliable source of clean energy. REC employs 2,000 people worldwide and produces 1.8 GW annually. Steve is also Board Chairman for REC Solar Norway AS, council member of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), and member of the International Advisory Panel to the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS IAP).
Prior to REC, Steve was CEO of Tyden Group, a leading provider of specialized security products. He spent much of his career with TE Connectivity (formerly Tyco Electronics), one of the world’s largest providers of solutions that connect and protect the flow of power and data. He served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Devices Global Business Unit, Chairman of the TE China Business Council, and Vice President and General Manager of the Energy Global Business Unit. Steve began his career in product development and operations at Raychem, Procter & Gamble and Microsoft. He has lived and worked in the US, UK, Germany, China, and Singapore.
Mr. O’Neil holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University, where he received the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Engineering.
